Keep Your Club Website Content Current with These 5 Great Tips

Running a BGC Club is challenging, but keeping your Club Website’s content current doesn’t have to be. Here are 5 tips to help make sure your youth, parents, partners and Club staff are all on the same page:

Use an Editorial Calendar – Plan out your content in at least 3 months in advance and line up the resources that are needed to create each piece of content. Try to prepare several related pieces and also have a few in your back pocket ready to share with your audience.

Keep Things Consistent – Use the same format for your posts so that you are not reinventing each and every piece. Your audience will appreciate this as well, as they become familiar with the tone and style of your content.

Keep It Simple – Work within your means and resources. Keeping your Club website up to date doesn’t mean you need to create complex pieces. Simply keeping regular calendar updates or sharing photos demonstrates to your audience that your site is fresh and active.

Use Photos – Sometimes all you need is a series of photos to tell the story or capture an event and its results.

Link Out to Social and Online Resources – Don’t forget to promote your social media posts and activity! Be sure to link out to your Club’s latest happenings on social and any mentions on reputable websites and online resources.

If you follow these tips, your WebBGC Club site will start running itself in no time! And don’t forget, your WebBGC Team is always here to assist you!

Tips for Taking Great Photos

If a picture is worth a thousand words, what’s a great photo worth? We know that when it comes to showcasing your club, capturing the authenticity and identity of your club through great visuals helps to promote the best of what you have to offer. So here are some tips to help you get that perfect shot:

You don’t always need a Digital SLR! With the advancement of technology these days, the majority of smartphones are already equipped with great cameras. And since they’re compact and always with you, you’ll be able to capture every exciting moment easily. Go ahead, don’t be shy to use what’s in your pocket!

All You Need Is Light. What’s the best accessory to help you get the best shots? Plain old light! You don’t need any fancy new gadget to help you take great photos. Just make sure you are taking photos in well-lit areas and that light is hitting your subject.

It’s All About the Angles. One way to get great photos is to shoot your subject from interesting angles. Get down low, up high or up close; making use of angles to capture your shots are almost always guaranteed to bring visual interest.

Don’t Plan for It. The best photos are sometimes those that are candid! While getting everyone to stand in line and smile is great, some of the most memorable pictures come when they’re snapped authentically and unplanned. Always be ready and shoot more pictures than you need. There’s bound to be some great shots captured in between.

Don’t have time for your own photos? Take advantage of the BGC Canada Photo Library! Hop onto bgcbrand.com to access the club library for free, approved-to-be-used photos. Need help? Rest assured that the WebBGC team is here to help. Just ask!

Spice Up Your Donation Message

Showing the impact donations and support have on your club and its youth goes a long way in encouraging others to take action on your website. Here are some great tips on how to show impact:

Use a donation impact image as one of your homepage sliders. Choose one of the moments you captured at your club as your homepage slider image and add a great title to it to show how much donation dollars and support are really doing for your club youth.

Frequently post and update your news. Was the latest event a direct result of a donation or sponsorship? Post a recap of it in your news section to make sure everyone knows about it.

Beef up your picture gallery. Whatever the event, make sure you capture the moments and post it in your picture gallery. Don’t forget to add captions to every picture to explain the event and impact so your audience can see how much donations and support mean to your club.

Blog about it. Much like news, create a blog about the impact from donations and give a voice to the kids at your club; from this, your audience can truly see how every little bit helps to change each member’s lives.

Dedicate a page to it. Don’t just ask for donations: dedicate a page to it! Get your audience’s attention by creating one web page on your site that is completely dedicated to showing the impact of donations. Whether it is showcasing the latest events or providing a clear way for donors to help, a dedicated page gives focus to your cause. Check out the BGC Clubs of Calgary’s dedicated donation page for a great example!
